PAGES OF MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING

PROVIDING EQUIPMENT FOR THE REGIONAL CENTERS

HANDBOOK ON COVERING ELECTIONS
The Association of Journalists has prepared and published a Handbook on Covering Elections. The Handbook was developed in cooperation with IFJ and was promoted in NGO Info Center.

PREELECTION JOURNALIST CARAVAN
During the parliamentary elections 2002, AJM provided logistic support to all journalists through the Regional Centers in Macedonia (Tetovo, Ohrid, Bitola, Strumica, Stip and Kumanovo).

PROTEST: “HERE WE ARE, BEAT US”
Silence is the goal of those who beat journalists, therefore in organization of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia, the united Macedonian journalists protested on September 20, 2002 in front of the building of the Ministry of Interior, courageously carrying the message: HERE WE ARE, BEAT US!

PRESS RELEASE
The Association of Journalists of Macedonia is seriously concerned with the statement made by Minister Nikola Popovski, at the briefing in the Finance Ministry, held on March 17, 2004. To the question “Are you the future Prime Minister?”, Popovski answered “Well, I don’t know if there is anyone from ‘Vest’ here. Nevertheless, even if there is someone, I will say it. ‘Vest’ is one of the papers where the journalists are corrupted by the politicians…”

The Council of Honor of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia condemns the unfounded claims in the article “WAC is finally functioning”, published in “Start” weekly (No 268, March 12, 2004). On July 14, 2004 the Association of Journalists of Macedonia presented “Krste Misirkov” award for long-standing work in journalism, as well as the annual radio, TV and printed media awards for 2003.
“Differences in journalists’ reporting regarding the presidential elections”
The threats and humiliation of journalists continue. Minister of Justice, Mr. Ixhet Memeti, tries to bring innovation in journalist expression.
From May 12 – 18, the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) will organize journalists’ caravan focused on decentralization of power.
