PAGES OF MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING

In August 2003, AJM and the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC) together with the Macedonian Information Agency (MIA), Dnevnik, Utrinski vesnik, Fakti, Lobi and Vecer started the realization of the project “Pages of Mutual Understanding.”

FIVE + MINUTES OF THUNDERING SILENCE 2003

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia observed World Press Freedom Day in 2003 under the motto "FIVE + MINUTES OF THUNDERING SILENCE!"

CAMPAIGN: THOUSAND CLAIMS…

At the beginning of April, AJM in cooperation with “Dnevnik” and the other dailies organized the campaign “Thousand Claims against Dosta Dimovska”.

ACTIVITIES

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia is permanently involved as an equal partner in many activities, on different levels, whenever it is necessary to hear the journalists’ voice.

DEVELOPING A STRATEGY ON AJM OPERATIONS

AJM has developed a strategy on its operations and activities and prepared the changes and supplements to AJM Statute, in order to update its provisions and meet the requests of Macedonian journalists.

NGO FAIR

AJM took part at the Fair of Non-Governmental Organizations in Macedonia and its stand was one of the most visited at the Fair.

JOURNALIST CARAVAN: CENSUS 2002

One of the massive activities prepared by AJM was the caravan organized in the six Regional centers and Skopje…

PROVIDING EQUIPMENT FOR THE REGIONAL CENTERS

AJM has provided full equipment for the regional centers in Tetovo, Ohrid, Bitola, Strumica, Stip and Kumanovo.

HANDBOOK ON COVERING ELECTIONS

The Association of Journalists has prepared and published a Handbook on Covering Elections. The Handbook was developed in cooperation with IFJ and was promoted in NGO Info Center.

PREELECTION JOURNALIST CARAVAN

During the parliamentary elections 2002, AJM provided logistic support to all journalists through the Regional Centers in Macedonia (Tetovo, Ohrid, Bitola, Strumica, Stip and Kumanovo).

PROTEST: “HERE WE ARE, BEAT US”

Silence is the goal of those who beat journalists, therefore in organization of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia, the united Macedonian journalists protested on September 20, 2002 in front of the building of the Ministry of Interior, courageously carrying the message: HERE WE ARE, BEAT US!

CONFIDENCE BUILDING IN MEDIA COMMUNITY

In the period between January and June 2002, the Association of Journalists of Macedonia together with the Macedonian Institute of Media and NGO “IREX ProMedia” realized the program “Confidence Building in Media Community”.

PROTEST: "JOURNALIST'S QUILL IN BULLET PROOF VEST"

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia on Monday, May 20 2002, organized a peaceful protest against the threatening of the journalists' lives and security while performing their professional duties.

"FIVE MINUTES OF LOUD SILENCE" – 3 May 2002

"Five minutes of loud silence"; this text was broadcast by many TV stations in Macedonia in the period between 11.55h and 12.00h, in honor of the World Media Freedom Day - May 3.

REVISION OF THE CODE OF JOURNALISTS OF MACEDONIA

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia, in cooperation with the Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM), revised the Code of Journalists of Macedonia.

PRESS RELEASE

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia is seriously concerned with the statement made by Minister Nikola Popovski, at the briefing in the Finance Ministry, held on March 17, 2004. To the question “Are you the future Prime Minister?”, Popovski answered “Well, I don’t know if there is anyone from ‘Vest’ here. Nevertheless, even if there is someone, I will say it. ‘Vest’ is one of the papers where the journalists are corrupted by the politicians…”

PRESS RELEASE

The Council of Honor of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia condemns the unfounded claims in the article “WAC is finally functioning”, published in “Start” weekly (No 268, March 12, 2004). In the text, which was not signed, there has been a severe violation of Articles 1,4,8,13,15 and 16 of the Code of Journalists of Macedonia. Based on speculations, Editor in Chief of “Start” has unprofessionally and unethically abused a text published in “Dnevnik”…

“Krste Misirkov” Awards

AJM is honored to inform You that after few years break the Association will present again “Krste Misirkov” awards. An independent jury comprised of nine colleagues – journalists has decided the awards for 2003 to be presented to…

On July 14, 2004 the Association of Journalists of Macedonia presented “Krste Misirkov” award for long-standing work in journalism, as well as the annual radio, TV and printed media awards for 2003.

“Differences in journalists’ reporting regarding the presidential elections”

The threats and humiliation of journalists continue. Minister of Justice, Mr. Ixhet Memeti, tries to bring innovation in journalist expression.

From May 12 – 18, the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) will organize journalists’ caravan focused on decentralization of power.
